Hello!
In this post, I am going to write about the flipped classroom and the flipped vocabulary video that Aslı and I created together. Let’s start with what a flipped classroom is. In a flipped classroom, students learn at home and practice at school. The teacher creates a video for the aimed topic and shares it with the students so that students learn the topic at any time they want! This approach helps teachers save lots of time in class, which leads to having time at school for practicing the topic rather than just focusing on teaching a topic. On the other hand, this saving of time is for students, not teachers. Creating a flipped video is not that easy for beginners. Let’s talk about our experiences!
First, we chose our audience as 5th grade students and the topic was “Daily Routines.” Before starting to create the video, we spent lots of time finding the right and useful website for us to create this video. However, we decided on “Animaker”, with which we can work together at the same time. Animaker was a perfect choice and it was time to discover this website. Then, we started to create the animation characters, looking like Aslı and I, and chose 10 phrases from the book we worked on.
It was our first time using Animaker and we spent some time figuring out how it works. However, I don’t think that we struggled much to figure it out. When preparing the video, it was really enjoyable for me to take part in such a fun video. After we finished the video, we uploaded it to my YouTube channel, which you can see below. After uploading this video to YouTube, we uploaded the video to PlayPosit, with which we added some questions to the video to see if the students understood the topic. That’s all!
Finally, Aslı and I loved the flipped classroom so much that we are going to use it in Pınar Hoca’s Teaching English Through Literature class for designing a lesson plan, as well! To see what we created and how beneficial the flipped classroom is, click here to watch our flipped vocabulary video with the questions . While you’re watching the video, some questions will appear on your screen. If you don’t want to see the questions, you can just click on the video below on this page.
Thank you for sparing your time! Your comments will make me cheerful!
