Hello!
It has been a long journey, and it is time to study for my finals, then time to rest. I’d like to admit that the Material Design course was more challenging than I thought. However, this course worthed it! I was more than glad to create activities for this course, and I would like to talk about what we have covered so far.
Our very first task was Corpus Use: Language Awareness. Though I heard about corpus before, I had never had the chance to use it productively. Corpus use adds a new dimension to language teaching and learning, and it is not that challenging. At first, I find it a little bit confusing; however, when I started to create something, it became enjoyable. What’s more, I even use corpus on another task: The Flipped Classroom: Grammar Teaching Video.
The flipped classroom videos are one of the ideas that put a new complexion on my point of view extensively! I neither had used it nor had heard of it. We first started with The Flipped Classroom: Vocabulary Teaching Video. It was really amazing for me to teach vocabulary through a flipped video. I enjoyed every single step of creating that video, starting from the idea of flipped vocabulary video to creating the animation for the flipped vocabulary video.
Then comes The Flipped Classroom: Grammar Teaching Video. It was easier for me to create a grammar teaching video than creating a vocabulary video though it took some more time. If I become a teacher and make my dreams come true one day , I will definitely use these flipped videos to teach my students and save more time for them to use that time in interactive class environment as I really find the flipped approach creative.
Talking about creativeness, I should mention the Augmented Reality: Paris in Your Room. It was something I had never heard before and was the most challenging one among the other tasks. Though there was lack of 3D items and AR applications, we managed to create a worksheet based on the Augmented Reality. Even it was hard for us to accomplish this task, I believe in the future it will be simpler when there are lots of sources.
What about the WebQuest: Project Time? I believe that WebQuest was easier to create regarding the other tasks. Integrating some activities from the Educational Technologies course to the Material Design course, WebQuest was one of the tasks that I enjoyed every bit of it. WebQuest is something “magical” helping us to integrate technology into the tasks or projects we give to students. So, I can say that I will surely use it in the future, hopefully!
Well, as it said, “All good things must come to an end.”. I would like to say thank you to my dear friends Aslı, Nida and Asude as they were together with me throughout this semester, to my followers whose interests have motivated me, finally and especially to my precious teacher Ms. Kurt, who has helped me throughout this semester and made me feel that I become a productive pre-service teacher!
Thank you all for being with me! Hope to see you again! Till that time, take care of yourselves! Byeee ^_^
